Bonnie,
I have a lot of information on the U-156. It was penned at Lorient, France and left to the Caribbean with 5 other U-boats on 19th January 1942 and attacked the Lago Oil & Transport Co. refinery on 16 February. There was no refueling.
The best account of this attack is in Wm. Hochstuhl's book "German U-Boat Brought War to Aruba February 16, 1942"
Another book, "Beginning to Das Ende-The Patrols of U-156" covers all 5 patrols.
Send your email address and I'll let you know where these are available.
