This ship listed as being lost 30.01.42. On board were the survivors from SS Empire Shackleton, the captain + 32 crew, convoy commodore + 4 naval staff, 1 wireless mechanic and 7 gunners, total 46 men. From Empire Shackleton's survivors, 4 crew, 2 gunners and the wireless mechanic rescued by Hmcs Shediac and landed at Punta Delgada, while 13 crew, 2 naval staff and 2 gunners were rescued by SS Calgary and landed at Freetown. However on Fidelity page, she is listed with 274 crew, 51 Royal Marines and 44 survivors all lost with just 10 from her own compliment surviving. Both cannot be right, on checking other sources, the numbers again vary. Anyone know the correct figures? john
