Thanks Rainer,
Pity those records are not publicly available (yet)...
It had crossed my mind that either it was somehow delayed, or that the description of previous damages from V/228 had been misinterpreted as damage "just received"...
Getting back to K/59, and thanks for your help there, did you happen to come across confirmation of the signal sent by 19 Group at 2055, to K/59 re the coordinates given to hunt UB? I just wonder if they had gone to approx BF4453, between 2055 and 2147 and not seen U-383 on the surface, whether it had sunk before nightfall? Something to consider nonetheless, an a/c in the area shortly after attack at 2002 and no visual sighting...
And if I may, just a question of U-106, any mention anywhere of the boat not being able to dive prior to the attack by K/59. Just wondering if there was any indication of why they hadnt tried to dive during the attack... batteries perhaps?
Really appreciate your help Rainer. I would not think of Uboats as being a forte of mine, so I appreciate the opportunity to correspond with those, such as yourself, who know what theyre on about! Some of my questions are a bit mundane I know, but unfortunately for some, Im one of those researchers that is likely to think that discovering what the Captain ate for breakfast, is quite exciting!
Thanks mate,
Lorenzo.
