Hi,
Does anyone know if U-boats had direction finding (RDF) equipment that they could use to get a bearing on allied ships sending radio messages in 1943?
I ask because I just read an account of the sinking of a ship my father was on in July 1943 in the Indian Ocean by U-177. The ship's captain and radio opertor did not know at that time if a bearing could be determined from a HF radio transmission.
