There was also a Canadian landing of Abwehr spy Werner Alfred Waldemar von Janowski in Chaleur Bay near New Carlisle, Quebec on November 9, 1942 by the U-518. He was captured by Canadian authorities and "turned" to become a double agent working for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, supposedly transmitting false Allied shipping information back to Germany.
