Hesse was a member of 7./J.G.53 and had just recently claimed his first victory. The Ju88 crew belonged to 3./K.G.54 and the machine was Ju88 W.Nr. 140216 and its verbandkennzeichen was B3+TL. Interestingly the loss reports do not state where or why the crew was lost (in fact the reports that I have seen state that Müller was 'tot' and the other three as vermißt). As for the Dorniers - I have yet to work out which unit they belonged to, but if I do find out I will let you know.
