I may have found the conning tower shield/emblem from U878 but not sure how to tell if it's original. It has the correct art work (an eagle with it's wings spread, standing on a globe) and on the back it says, "From conning tower of U878 surrendered April 1945". That is the date it was sunk. I'd like to know how to authenticate this piece and how it could have survived since it was sunk with all hands lost. ANY input would be greatly appreciated.
