<HTML>We had an airshow in my town this weekend and there on display was a C5 Galaxy. I asked some of the crew whether or not the Galaxies and the other cargo plane types we have could by themselves support the army in a prolonged conventional war overseas. Believe it or not the answer is yes.
Although the Air Force also has a sealift command program, it sounds like that and any merchant shipping would at best be a supplement to the air cargo planes.
It sounds like that if the submarines want to have any shot at stopping the supply lines they better trade some of their torpedoes in for SAMS.</HTML>
