I believe most of the guns if not all of the Small Arms were kept on the lower level just in front of the center of the ship in a small Armory that was held under lock and key by the captain and second in command and that lock was only opened if the ship's crew were in a danger close situation. How cool would it be to do a dive and locate the Armory and weld or pry open that Armory box containing some mp44 is an MP40 k98s and some pistols.
Although I'm sure most of them would be rusted to Hell unless that Armory was airtight
