<HTML>Depending upon theatre of operations, time of year etc, KM officers wore a variety of clothing.

Generally in the North Atlantic they would be in standard dark blue/black pea jacket similar to what the English wore at the time, usually under a heavy coat if watchkeeping, various styles were to be found of these.

In tropical conditions, they would have a light tunic & trousers in tan cotton with brass eagle on the breast, Bundesmarine tunics are virtually the same and can be found in some army surplus shops if you look carefully. The standard peaked cap was produced in tan cloth as well.

Pre war summer dress was a four pocket tunic & trousers in white, with a white cover for the peaked cap. U boat captains wore the white cover for recogniton purposes at sea.

There is a good selection of colour plates on this site as well.</HTML>
