Please, is anyone able to provide assistance towards firm documentary evidence (KTB, file records, contemporary reports, messages and/or intercepted radio traffic, etc) showing how U-1231 came to be carrying such vast stocks of Wehrmacht liberated French booze when the boat surrendered into Loch Eriboll on 13 May 1945?

The boat was evidently engaged in a conventional patrol across the north Atlantic to US waters, leaving Kristiansand on 24 April 1945. If this is so, why was precious storage space aboard taken up with so much bottled alcohol far beyond conventional crew requirements ?

I am not interested in second- or third-hand accounts, supposition, opinion, interpretation, speculation or uncorroborated sources. Prime documentary sources are preferable.

Long shot I know, but all assistance gratefully received.
