A long time away like 20 odd years! Good day nice to be back.
On a totally different site I have inadvertently got into a spat about cruisers and submarines.
To my knowledge there has never been an episode of a WWII cruiser sinking an axis submarine through depth charging. For a start I am not aware of any cruiser carrying them or fitted with asdic/sonar. On the surface an incident may have happened but we are talking about submerged subs here.
It didn't help that co-pilot said and quoted five examples, which I proved to be total rubbish. One example given was the date the cruiser was torpedoed by a u-boat and others either the cruiser or u-boat had already been sunk by the date given.
So to recap any allied cruiser v any axis submarine.
Regards
