Who was Keroman?

<HTML>I've recently returned from a holiday in Brittany where I took the opportunity to visit the U-boat base at Lorient. Unfortunately I missed the young French guide's comments on who Keroman, the man behind the construction of the pens, was. I gather he was unpopular but more than that I know not. Any other information on Keroman 1 & 2 would also be of interest.</HTML>
