<HTML>I saw a trailer for the film 2 months ago, and had a weird hunch that several moored destroyers being bombed were Spruance or Kidd class because of the sharp bows. Not even Gearings had such sharp bows, not to mention the older Farraguts or Mahans, (and the Gearings weren\'t even in production until 1943 or \'44 I believe).
My hunch was confirmed last week when Entertainment Tonight showed footage of the production, including the staging of a blast over 3 or 4 moored Spruance/Kidd destroyers...Let\'s see...these 9000 ton, 560 foot DD\'s playing the 1300 to 2100 ton, approx 325 foot destroyers of the day...The prewar BB\'s were mostly 608 feet long.....hmmm..............</HTML>
