<HTML>Having checked through Robert C Stern\'s Type VII U Boats, the differences between the B & the C were few, the tower was modified to completely encase the ventilation trunking, which appears as an external modofication on the Bs and the bow was widened to improve sea keeping (the \"Atlantik\" bow) among others. The primary difference was internal, by redesigning much of the equipment the builders were able to reduce weight, enabling them to increase the thickness of the pressure hull casing, which in turn meant that the boat was capable of deeper dives.
