Soldiers disguised as their enemies for clandestine purposes was not unknown, we did it on a couple of occasions, as did the Germans (Skorzeny\'s commandos in the Ardennes). However as far as can be ascertained, this did not apply to the naval sphere of ops.

When U 110 was boarded and the Enigma & codebooks seized, this was not a planned operation but a spur of the moment decision taken when the sub failed to sink. Not to impugn the courage of the English boarding party who could well have been trapped in the boat as it went down or killed by any Germans still hiding below decks.

Paradoxically, the capture of U 570 by a Hudson bomber of Coastal Command would have been considered unbeleievable if a film had been made of it - the only incidence in history of an aircraft capturing a submarine.</HTML>
