Chapter 1 has the info about the scuttling.

It's a good story about the only u-boat commander to be tried for war crimes. In that story the U-boat commander was caught because he was forced to beach his craft. After beaching, the crew tried to destroy equipment by planting explosives (they didn't go off).</HTML>
