Thank you so much for your input. W is correct about the version on ingeb.org. It is rather Nintendo-esque, but at least the lyrics are available. With your help I've found that the song seems to go by three titles:

1) So leben wir
2) So leben wir alle Tage
3) Der alte Dessaurer

I found a CD containing the song under the title of Der alte Dessaurer. The name of the CD is Platzkonzert: Popular Marches. I don't yet have any information about the quality as I have just ordered it.

Now that the song is identified, does anyone know whether it was popular among the crews of the U-Bootwaffe or, more generally, during World War II?
