<HTML>Yes I agree with the other respondents to your posting the film you're looking for is Above Us the Waves.
Furthermore there is an excellent book of the same name that deals factually with the development and use of Midget and X Craft submarines.
Incedentally the title of the film is taken from a line in the poem the 'Merman' by Arnold, "We shall see while above us the waves
roar and whirl
a ceiling of amber
and a pavement of pearl"</HTML>
