<HTML>Morning all,
Came across this yesterday on one of the movie channels. Unfortunately I was only able to watch about 20 minutes of it but it didn't look too bad. It tells the story of a Royal Canadian Navy corvette on escort duty in the North Atlantic. It stars the terminally wooden Randolf Scott as the skipper. I'm always intrigued by the the lengths these propaganda movies went to in order to discredit uboat crews. Survivors being machine gunned by gloating Nazis was the usual way they did the job, however this movie came up with something new.
I'll try and remember the actual dialogue.
Canadian sailor, to one of his comrades. (They'd been rescued following a 'cowardly' uboat attack)
What's the matter with you?
(comrade) I'm thinking of Shakespeare
Sailor " Yeah Shakespeare was a real good dog
(comrade)The best dog in the whole navy.
Sailor " He was swimming towards the lifeboat when those no-good Nazis shot him"
What next!!
Randolf and his crew return immediately to the North Atlantic to get this evil dog murderer. He describes the sub as having a big Iron Cross on the conning tower!!
Good stuff eh?
