I'm 100% sure that the series exist in DVD format! I bought the series on VHS from Bayrischer Rundfunk Shop, and on their site ( www.br-shop.de ) the DVD version was also available!
I checked the site now, but the series aren't available any more. They run out of both DVD and VHS. 1 year ago, when I bought the VHS, they said that I have bought one of the last ones...
