<HTML>The Russian sub was created for the movie by production designer Robert Boyle. Since it was able to move around, I'd presume there was some sort of large boat under the upper superstructure. He did seem to draw fairly heavily on some of the Type VII design, or maybe the studio just had an old conning tower fairwater set left over that he could use.
