Dear Herr Kummrow,
As the American ladies say, flattery will get you anywhere! What an interesting depiction of a whole KTB! I do hope the Admiral is keeping well, hale and hearty as his age allows.
The fact is, however, that LGB DID see action during the seventh patrol of U 96 (October-November 1941), because he lived through the destroyer depth-charging after U 96 had sunk the 'Bennekom', as you can ascertain elsewhere in this website, only five days out of St. Nazaire. And the hilariously funny thing is, the LI's description of that depth-charging is much closer to LGB's than to the official presentation of it in the KTB, and this description was written at the time, exactly like the KTB. Perhaps the Kaleun was being a bit econmical with the truth.
However, it's interesting that the Admiral says now that his officers spent time in the 'Bar Royal', because in Salewski's 'Wirklichkeit des Krieges' his letters to LGB seem to imply something entirely different.
Hoping that you and all yours are enjoying the best of health, I send you my
Warmest Wishes
