Gotta love the new movie Sky Captain with it submersible prop airplanes capable of 640 MPH air speed that dive into the ocean and become attack submarines with torpedoes.

Then there are the British aircraft carriers that are also capable of hovering over the water. They would have been handy to have in WWII.

All this apparently in the 30's with those majestic Zeppelins, but somehow placed in the future.

Then our hero has a soupped up P-40B Flying Tiger airplane capable of sustaining a dive into the ocean at full throttle to become a submersible attack submarine.
Handy capability to have when a wing tank is one fire.

Cinematography is great. Special effects were spectacular.

Allusions to Lost Horizons, King Kong, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Wings and probably a number of others that I missed including some detective stories.

No use complaining about authenticity, there isn't any, this is fiction.

There were some English subtitles for German. Guess who the bad guys were? The bad guys are _____, I am not going to ruin the end.
