This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

Dear Meg,
First of all, let me wish you a very Happy Christmas and a healthy, happy, prosperous 2005.
Secondly, there's a similar story to be told. The eldest son has a catamaran, and due to a sort of accident one of the screws nearly fell off when the restraining bolts were seared off. So, the one side flooded with water which had to be bailed out the old-fashioned way before any repairs could be made. Mother was there to lend a hand, and after the whole episode they named that part of the boat 'U 96' in fond rememberance. Then I was asked to provide an appropriate photo to enlarge and frame for that particular part of the boat, because, of course, Father had not kept a single photo of his Boot! In some respects hilariously funny, in others inexpressibly sad. If one cannot talk with his nearest and dearest about his wartime experiences, who can he tell them to? But the bailing part was pretty much done as in the film, buckets and all.
Best Regards
Io
