The movie did indeed use clips from other films. The end credits give thanks for the use of clips from "U-571" and "Down Periscope"(!). The movie, oddly enough, reminded me of the early black & white TV shows that had some of the same sort of forced (bad)acting and camera angles. The sets also seemed to have the type of "on-the-cheap" construction found in early television shows. I'm still trying to puzzle out why William Macy and Lauren Holly, two fine actors would want to appear in a film this poorly done. As Woody said: "great potential but...".
