Definitely for movie history alone. They also had some 1930's vintage aircarft, even a 2-engine bomber taking shots at the sub. In one scene it looks like they may have allowed the sinking of an outdated U S Navy destroyer for the film. As most eary war movies go, alot of fluff and propoganda...Jimmy Durante even fights with a boxing kangaroo while in port.....
