uboat movie scene - sick man put thro torpedo tube

Just after WW2 and as a lad , I recall seeing a movie with a scene with a uboat bottomed and an enemy (Allied) ship waiting on the surface for signs of a kill.

The uboat commander asks a man lying in a sick berth "if he believes in the fatherland" When the man confirms that he does, and repeats it after the question is asked again, he is man handled screaming into one of the tubes, and fired to the surface. there he is met by a waiting boat, but i seem to remember he spills the beans and tells them that it was a ruse by the Captain!

Can anyone out there tell me the name of the picture??? It is none of the regular suspects, and i have been working on this conundrum for 20 years or more. Did I imagine it, I am beginning to wonder...
