Whyever not should it not be accurate? It wasn't only L.G Buchheim who took part as an observer in the seventh patrol of U 96, but Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock, the actual commander, who visited the Bavaria Studios during filming but also Friedrich Grade, the LI, who supervised the technical details of both book and film, as well as the subsequent books on U-boats written by the self-same Buchheim, whatever any objectors may claim!
