He must have come on board during the crew change of August 45 since he isn't in the group picture of October 44 at Carter City. Most of the crew rotated back to the states after the end of the war and left the ship in August. The typhon was in October of 45 that destroyed the ship.

David, I've got to get back into the scrapbook but I've got more pictures of my dad with other crewmembers standing next to their quanson huts on the island. Also a picture or two with him with some officer in a bar stateside. Might be your dad. I need to check.

I guess your dad was part of the relief crew that boarded PC 1128 in August of that year. A good many left the ship in August and headed home. I have the picture of the celebration when they shot the plane down. Shows them cutting into a big sheet cake on the fantail of the ship. I've got a few pictures of some of the men while stationed at Carter City. That was where the group photo was

Just found this information about the PC1128. My father was the Machinest 2c on PC 1128. His name was Edward Nelson and served on the vessel from sometime early 1943 until sometime in 1945. I have pictures of him and some of the crew on some island in the Pacific and it appears to be their base.
