D-day we were in mid atlantic, signals came to pick up surendering U-boats, I think we went to two or three astro point and found nothing, -- Fianally headed home and were barred from Halifax on account or the riots -- we were sent to Dartmouth to re arm, oil up and load provisions -- Orders came all those wanting to sign up for the pacific war would be given leave when we hit Vancouver, I signed

Remenber one trip coming home from Londonderry on convoy duty and we ran into a mid atlantic gail It broke the glass on the bridge and we lashed a 16 ft plank in place- Tha asdic and the radar were useless we were in more fear of the weather than we were U-Boats poor buggers on watch I was lucky scullen in the asdic hut The Sub Lt Montgomery a ninty day oner was always trying to catch me sleeping

In my recolection after we were torpedoed the HMCS Shawinigan came along side to assist us we then floated our grassline a sea going tug took us in tow and towed us to quebec, we had a funeral ceremony and the crew marched behind an old fashioned hurss we were all given survivors leave and went home, Had to report back to join the HMCS waskesui in new glasgow NS on Dec 24th dasy before Xmas we we

My name James d Stanley asdic rating Hmcs Magog was on seaboat's crew that picked up Leading Seaman Borassa who had been blown off Magog when Torpedoe hit, he was in shock but OK picked up another crew member he was dead, HMCS Toronto took us aboard later seaboat crew was taken back to Magog and towed to Quebec by a sea going tug.
