This may be too late for your researches given the date of your posts on this subject but the National Archive at Kew holds file ADM 137/3897 which contains comprehensive information, apparently freely given by Steuermann Bernhard Haack who had served on UC-31 prior to his capture. A lot would depend on the nature of the encounter eg whether the destroyer was engaged as a convoy escort - convoys were introduced on the East coast in the Spring of 1917 or whether the vessel was working in say an anti submarine patrol.

I have the unadorned Auxiliary Patrol report on the Greenisland affair lifted from the Larne Patrol Diary. It records 'possibly slightly damaged. In all other senses the submarine is not thought to have sustained damage' I can send you this material if you like. I have the following notes regarding this loss. A passage report was duly made at 04:30 on the morning of 30 April, ninety-five miles West of Lindesnes in Norway.
