In Arnold Fischdick's account of his time on U 90 (Kplt. Walter Remy) he describes how on a return journey through the Norweg, U 90 took a detour towards North Rona. Lt z.S. Weidemann and Obermaat Ahrend took a dinghy over to North Rona to see if any supplies could be scrounged. Fischdick relates how the landing party returned with bird eggs and a lamb but the patrol report of U 90 provides further details of this landing made on 5 June 1918 which resulted in a haul of seven sheep. U 90 anchored in an inlet on the western flank of North Rona between 06:00 and 09:00. The sheep rustling party made their raid then successfully returned to the boat which continued home, unmolested by local Auxiliary Patrol units. It also an indisputed a matter of record that on 15 May 1918 the radio station at St Kilda was brazenly shelled by U 90 without interference.
