Very many thanks indeed to Ron Young for his information. 'Our' ship, the 'Ioannis P. Goulandris', was owned by "John P. Goulandris of Greece" according to the records I have seen. Would 'John P.' be in anyway related to 'J. N. Goulandris' of the company 'J. N. Goulandris and Z.Vrondisis', who were operating at the relevant time out of

On 04 May 1917 the Greek steamer 'Ioannis P. Goulandris' (ex- 'Foylemore' [1st]; 5,153 g.r.t.) was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the Bay of Biscay.
