Thank you very much for your reply. I agree with you that the attacks were against surface vessels and not 5 "u-boats". Also here says for 4 "u-boats". Regards Lio PS. You made a mistake about U-537 (sunk on 10 November 1944 in the Java Sea)

Hello and thank you for your answer, According to a 206 Squadron pilot Distinguished Flying Cross (in 4th supplement to the London Gazette, the 3rd of April, 1945) we can read that on 3rd February 1945 this officer was pilot and captain of an aircraft detailed for a sortie. Whilst over the Baltic he engaged an enemy merchant vessel and pressed home a good attack from a low level. Shortly after

Hello, From Leuchars on 3rd-4th February 1945 seven Liberators of No. 206 and eight of No. 547 set off in atrocious weather to patrol around the island of Bornholm. Two Liberators were forced to abandon the operation; seven covered the patrol without finding a target, while the remainder made depth - charge attacks against four U-boats and two surface vessels. Any idea which U-boats are?

Michael, Thanks you very much for your reply. Any idea why U 79 was inactive from 20-Feb-18 until the day of surrender at Harwich ? PS: From wiki the British Naval Intelligence records SM U 79 at Norderney on 2 May 1918, and possibly in the Elbe on 9 November. Regards Lio

Kapitän zur See Bruno Mahn was one of the oldest U-boat commanders of WWII. He served during WW I as Wachoffizier on U-boats UB 25, UB 33 and then on UC 59 until June 1918. From June 1918 until the end of the war he was commander of UB 21. Is it possible to provide me the patrols of UB 33 and UB 21 when Bruno Mahn served on it ? 22.04.1916 - 00.04.1917 Wachoffizier UB 33 12.05.1917

Scott, Wilhelm Spahr served as Obersteuermann with U-47 at several patrols including the famous Scapa Flow patrol. Hans Ibbeken made only one patrol during WW2 (he was CO of U-27 during Spanish Civil War) Some successful commanders were awarded the badge after only one patrol and I believe Ibbeken was one of them

Hello, According to SM U 59 on 14 May 1917 struck a mine off Horns Reef and sunk with 33 dead and 4 survivors. I found in a WW I submariner service record that he served on U 59 until 15.09.17 (also received EK II 15.09.17). Then he was posted on SMS Vineta. These 4 survivors rescued and returned to Germany ? Hello, I want to ask a few questions about U-380 It’s true that 1) On the 3 February 1943, U-380 pulled into Port of Messina, Sicily for a brief stop to refuel but Ninth Air Force B-24s bomb the harbor facilities damaging the U-boat. For this reason U-380 returned at La Spezia on 6th Feb 1943. 2) On 6 May 1943 the U-380 stopped to Porto Nocovo (where is this harbor ???) to load 25
