Hi Michael, Have spent a fruitless half-hour searching for the microfilm on the Nat. Archives site, putting in the number above (and bits of it), UB 21, KTB, Kriegtagesbuch, uboat, Naval Intelligence etc etc, all with no result. Is it known to be on microfilm, and if so, does any Forum member have it, or have access to it ? Thanks ! Frank

Thanks very much for that, Ron. As the previous thread (May 2006) comments, the plot thickens ! Hayburn Wyke is some miles south of Ness point (which is the northerly tip of Robin Hood's Bay), and especially if one were trying to avoid roads, farm tracks, etc, it would take at least a full day of walking over difficult terrain to reach it. No way could one 'wade ashore at Ness Point&

Hi Simon - Many thanks. I had been wondering what its context was, since it didn't read like part of a KTB. Presumably Walther had to put in a special report after the patrol to explain his missing crew members. Best wishes - and thanks again - Frank
