The smallest ship I know of to sink a U Boat was the Cuban Navy subchaser CS 13, an 83 foot Patrol boat, which sank the U 176 off north coast of Cuba in May 1943
Are there are more sinking by small craft ?

I am seeking information on attacks by Civil Air Patrol aircraft against U boats
The Cap claimed to have executed some 57 attacks against U Boats, claiming damage to 17 and even sinking 1, possibly 2
I suspect these claims are exaggerated, nore in line of wishful thinking
Of the attacks, are any confirmed in U Boat records ? If so what are the dates and boats ?
Thanks for any he

Question:
While many small craft requistioned by the Royal navy (fishing boats, trawlers, drifters, etc) carried small arms, usually several rifles (some WWI vintage Canadian Ross) to deal with floating mines and such. Did merchant
ships also carry a supply of small arms (rifles, pistols) for things like
mines, guard details and other tasks?
