Gentleman I'm finding it difficult in some circumstances to reconcile times listed in some docs to others. A ship could in theory use local time or the time of their home port. When comparing British and German documents in theory a time could be GMT, local time or MEZ which becomes confusing. Did U.boat logs use MEZ always by convention or would they sometimes use local time? Did

Good afternoon I wonder if someone can help me with an issue close to my heart. I had tried to research this myself but I'm afraid I have run out of ideas. My grandfather was invalided out of the RN. From my recollection of conversations this was due to his vessel being hit by a mine. But it could equally have been the result of an air raid. Certainly he received shrapnel injuries.

Morning gentleman, New to this forum so please bear with me Convoy HG7 was shadowed by a submarine a it sailed between Gibraltar and Brest between 14th and 21st November 1939. No losses occurred so it may not be possible to find out which boat this was but can any hazard a guess or provide any additional information? Regards James
