View of the operator’s stand for the port side diesel engine. Controls for starting, reversing, adjusting fuel (and thus RPM) and timing are here. The small gauges near the top are pressure gauges for cooling water, motor oil, and fuel lines. The two black columns of gauges show exhaust manifold temperatures. The small gauge at the top of the right hand column of exhaust temperature gauges is the RPM gauge for the exhaust turbine of this engine. The diesel engines on this boat are turbocharged. The crankshaft RPM gauge is just visible in the very top left. The red port side engine order telegraph is also visible. To the right, with the large black wheel on top, is the starting air flask for this engine. (Caption courtesy of Matt Hamacher)
