New documentaries on Discovery Channel
April 16 - I just got a letter from Mr. John M. Schultz of ABC News Productions, New York about new documentary. This is the entire letter:
"I am writing to inform you that we have just finished production on a documentary on the U-505. The film was produced for Discovery Channel, and will be shown in the United States on the following dates:
- 4/19 8:00PM and 11:00PM Eastern Standard Time
4/22 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time
Viewers should check local listings for exact times. The version being shown on 4/19 is 43 minutes long. The version being shown on 4/22 is 46 minutes long. This is because Discovery Channel is showing several U-Boat related vignettes during the 4/19 version. These pieces will be 30-60 seconds in length and will cover such topics as Enigma and Bombe, the U-Boat fleet, and the upcoming Hollywood film "U-571". Therefore, I recommend that viewers tune in to both the 4/19 and 4/22 versions.
A 50 minute version has also been produced for the home video market. I believe that Discovery Channel also has plans to air and market several international versions in the future. Contact Discovery at http://dsc.discovery.com for further information.
