Notes

The rank of Kadett was renamed to Seekadett in about 1899.

Spindler commanded the II. U-boat Half-Flotilla through August 1915 and held a variety of submarine-related staff position through the rest of the war. Postwar, he authored Der Krieg zur See 1914-1918: Handelskrieg mit U-Booten, the official history in five volumes of the German submarine campaign against merchant shipping.
