Career information
Served during the entire Second World War on the USS Hopkins. Was at Johnston Atoll on December 7, 1941 and at Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. Awarded a Silver Star of his actions in Lingayen Gulf on January 7, 1945 for the rescue of 94 survivors of the sunken USS Palmer (DMS 5). Awarded a Bronze Star for actions at Okinawa from March 25, 1945 to August 14, 1945.
