Corvette HMS Candytuft (i) (K 09)

HMS Candytuft (Lt.Cdr. F.B. Collinson, RNR, (retired)) picks up 7 survivors from the Icelandic merchant Hekla that was torpedoed and sunk on 29 June south of Cape Farewell in position 58°20'N, 43°00'W by German U-boat U-564.
9 Sep 1941
While in the North Atlantic, escorting convoy HX 148, HMS Candytuft (Lt.Cdr. F.B. Collinson, RNR (retired)) suffered a boiler explosion. 11 of the crew were killed in the incident. Candytuft was taken in tow. Repairs were completed at New York in February 1942. (1)
Frigate HMS Test (K 239)
26 May 1943
German U-boat U-436 was sunk in the North Atlantic west of Cape Ortegal, Spain, in position 43°49'N, 15°56'W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Test (Lt.Cdr.(Retd.) F.B. Collinson, RD, RN) and the corvette HMS Hyderabad (T/Lt. T. Cooper, RNR).
