| Notes on loss | At 05.26 hours on 2 Nov, 1941, the Larpool (Master Charles Patton), a straggler from convoy ON-27, was torpedoed by U-208 about 250 miles east-southeast of Cape Race and sunk at 07.17 hours with two coups de grāce in grid BC 4888. 22 crew members and four gunners were lost. The master and five crew members landed at Burin, Newfoundland on 10 November. Eleven crew members were picked up by the Canadian corvette HMCS Bittersweet (K 182) (LtCdr J.A. Woods) and landed at Halifax. | ||
