Notes on loss On 6 Mar, 1942, U-587 torpedoed and sank a ship reported to be a camouflaged Greenland patrol vessel named Hawse Gude, but this must have been Hans Egede (Master N.O. Petersen) which was reported missing in Canadian waters since 4 March.
