| Notes on loss | On 30 Mar, 1943, the Empire Bowman (Master Charles Henry Cranch OBE) in convoy SL-126 was torpedoed and sunk by U-404 about 425 miles northwest of Cape Finisterre. Four crew members were lost. The master, 39 crew members and six gunners were picked up by the British frigate HMS Wear (K 230) (Lt G.D. Edwards) and landed at Liverpool. | ||
