| Notes on loss | At 09.30 hours on 21 Jun, 1943, the Brinkburn (Master Norman Johnsen) in convoy TE-22 was hit by two of three torpedoes from U-73, exploded and sank immediately west of Algiers. When the U-boat later surfaced they found many damaged food cans and two 75mm shells in its transport boxes on the bridge. The master, 21 crew members and five gunners were lost. One crew member and five gunners were rescued by landing craft and a fishing vessel and landed at Algiers. | ||
