Notes on event | At 10.55 hours on 8 March 1945 the Lornaston (Master David Cownie) in convoy ONA-289, en route to join the combined convoy OS-115/KMS-89, was torpedoed and sunk by U-275 northwest of Fécamp. The master, 40 crew members and seven gunners were picked up by HMS Holmes (K 581) (LtCdr P.S. Boyle) and HMS Palencia and landed at Newhaven. | ||
