| Notes on loss | At 19.02 hours on 18 Jun, 1940, the unescorted and unarmed Altair (Master Johannes Nesholt) was torpedoed and shelled by U-32 and sank west of Ireland. The two Norwegian lifeboats picked up 19 fishermen of the two Spanish trawlers Sálvora and Faro-Ons, which were sunk by the same U-boat shortly afterwards. All survivors were picked up later by two other Spanish trawlers and taken to Pasages, Spain on 21 June. | ||
