| Notes on loss | Between 23.50 and 23.56 hours on 25 Aug, 1940, U-124 fired four torpedoes at four ships in the convoy HX-65A 23 miles north of the Butt of Lewis, Hebrides and reported four steamers sunk. However, the Harpalyce and Fircrest were sunk and the Stakesby was damaged. There were no survivors from the Fircrest (Master Russell Helton Tuckett OBE), the master and 38 crew members were lost. | ||
